Ecosystem ponds work with Mother Nature to provide food, shelter, and safety to the wildlife .

Skimmer (mechanical filter): will not only pre-filter the water and house the pump; it will also skim debris from the water’s surface to prevent the accumulation of organic materials on the pond floor.

BioFalls (biological filter): Provide surface area for beneficial bacteria to colonize and remove excess nutrients from the water.

Pumps: an efficient circulation system will keep the water moving and provide the necessary oxygen levels for healthy koi fish and plants.

Rocks and gravel: provide tremendous surface area for beneficial bacteria to break down excess nutrients in the water and dissolved organic debris on the pond floor.

Fish: reduce pond maintenance as they graze on string algae and bottom feed on the pond floor. Fish also make very enjoyable pets, providing hours of natural entertainment.

Plants: Mother Nature’s true filters, plants are great for adding character to a pond by providing color and texture, but from a filtration perspective, they’re second to none. Thriving from the excess nutrients in a pond and depriving algae of its food source, the aquatic plants in a water garden, given proper coverage, are critical for the overall health of the ecosystem.

Low Maintenance

Pond Maintenance and Pond Cleaning

Lakeshore Aquascape offers a full service pond maintenance program, including pond cleaning, pond shut-downs and openings.

Our pond maintenance work includes:

Spring Cleanout Service
Clean skimmer net, clean skimmer filter mat, check pump for proper flow, check and adjust automatic water fill valve (if needed), trim and remove any dead plants and water lilies, trim and remove any debris, replace any gravel and rock as needed, apply bacteria as needed.

Summer Check Up
Perform a brief visual checkup to make sure the pond is running smoothly. Bacteria and algae fix will be added as needed.

Fall Shut Down Service
Mid to late fall is a good time to winterize your water garden. We will check your pump and filtration media, check edges, bleed out auto-fill lines, trim back your aquatic plants and net the pond. By taking advantage of this option, you can ensure an easy startup in the spring.

Monthly Maintenance Service
Take the guesswork out of maintaining your water garden by having Lakeshore Aquascape do it for you. We have many flexible pond maintenance agreements available with one that will fit your needs.
